The station is located in the North of Rio de Janeiro state with the head station at Farol de São Tomé beach, where there is a Visitors' Center. The Visitors' Center offers replicas and silhouette of the 5 species that are found in Brazil, tank with Loggerhead baby Turtles (Caretta caretta), panels with explanations about the sea turtles and TAMAR. Its reaching area is approximately 230 km of coast from the Espírito Santo border to Macaé County. The beach area monitored during the spawning season is approximately 150 km, between Espírito Santo' border and Carapebus county. The 5 species of sea turtles that lay eggs in the Brazilian coast can be found in the region, but there are only records of Loggerhead (Caretta caretta), Leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea) and Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) spawnings.
